Who can sign up for the platform?
Currently, our platform is available exclusively to UNC students. You must have a valid @unc.edu email address to create an account.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
Go to the Sign In page and click "Forgot Password". Enter your UNC email address, and we'll send you a password reset link.
Can I change my email address?
Currently, you cannot change your email address as accounts are tied to your UNC email. If you need assistance with account issues, please contact support at support@ocal.ai.
How do I connect my Google Calendar?
To connect your Google Calendar:
- Go to Dashboard → Settings → Calendar Connections
- Click "Connect Google Calendar"
- Sign in with your Google account and approve the permissions

Where do I find my Canvas calendar URL?
To find your Canvas calendar URL:
- Log in to Canvas
- Click "Calendar" in the left sidebar
- Click the "Calendar Feed" button in the bottom right
- Copy the provided URL (it should end with .ics)
Why aren't my calendar events syncing?
There could be several reasons for sync issues:
- Your calendar connection needs to be refreshed
- The calendar URL (for Canvas) has changed or expired
- There's a temporary sync delay
Try going to Settings → Calendar Connections and click "Reconnect" for the affected calendar. If issues persist, please contact our support team.
Can I edit events imported from Google Calendar or Canvas?
Events imported from external calendars (Google, Canvas) can be viewed in our platform but must be edited in their original source. This ensures proper syncing and prevents conflicts.
What file formats are supported for syllabus uploads?
Our platform currently supports PDF files for syllabus uploads. We recommend uploading the original PDF rather than scanned copies for the best extraction results.
How accurate is the syllabus information extraction?
Our system uses advanced AI to extract key information from syllabi, including assignment dates, exam schedules, and reading lists. While accuracy is generally high, we recommend reviewing the extracted information for any errors or missing details.
Can I edit information extracted from my syllabus?
Yes! After uploading a syllabus, you can review and edit the extracted information. Go to Dashboard → Courses → [Course Name] → "Edit Course Details" to make any necessary changes.
Is there a limit to how many syllabi I can upload?
You can upload up to 5 syllabi during the initial onboarding process. After that, you can add additional syllabi through the Courses section of your dashboard with no strict limit, though we recommend focusing on your current semester's courses.
How does focus time scheduling work?
Our system analyzes your existing calendar commitments and finds optimal times for focused work based on your preferences. We consider factors like your preferred study times, existing commitments, and academic goals to suggest ideal focus blocks.
Can I customize how study time is allocated?
Yes! You can customize your study schedule in several ways:
- Go to Settings → Study Preferences to set your ideal study times and duration
- For specific courses, go to Courses → [Course Name] → "Study Settings" to customize study allocation for that course
- You can also manually adjust or delete any generated study blocks that don't work with your schedule
How far in advance does the system schedule study time?
By default, the system schedules study time for the next two weeks based on upcoming assignments and exams. You can adjust this timeframe in Settings → Study Preferences.
How is my calendar and course data used?
Your calendar and course data is used solely to provide you with scheduling and study optimization features. We do not share your personal data with third parties. For full details, please review our Privacy Policy.
Can I delete my data?
Yes, you can delete your account and all associated data at any time. Go to Settings → Privacy → Delete Account. Please note that this action is permanent and cannot be undone.
