Schedule Optimization
Our scheduling optimization features help you make the most of your time by intelligently planning your study sessions, focus blocks, and breaks.
Focus Time Management
Focus time blocks are dedicated periods for deep work without distractions. Our system helps you schedule these based on your preferences and existing commitments.
Setting Up Focus Time
- Go to Dashboard → Settings → Focus Time
- Set your daily focus time goal (e.g., 120 minutes)
- Specify your preferred focus times (morning, afternoon, evening)
- Indicate any days you prefer not to have scheduled focus time
How Focus Time is Scheduled
Our algorithm analyzes several factors to suggest optimal focus blocks:
- Your existing calendar commitments
- Your preferred focus times
- Optimal block duration (typically 25-90 minutes without breaks)
- Upcoming deadlines that might require focused attention
Pro Tip: Focus Block Duration
Research shows most people work best in 50-minute focus sessions followed by a 10-minute break. You can customize this in your settings based on your personal preferences.
Study Time Optimization
Our platform helps you create an effective study schedule based on your courses, deadlines, and learning preferences.
Study Time Allocation
After uploading your syllabi and connecting your calendars, our system will:
- Identify key assignments and exams for each course
- Calculate recommended study time based on assignment complexity and your course load
- Schedule study sessions working backward from due dates
- Balance study time across all your courses
Customizing Study Preferences
To customize how study time is allocated:
- Go to Dashboard → Settings → Study Preferences
- Set your preferred study times (early morning, evening, etc.)
- Adjust the "buffer days" before assignments (how many days in advance to start studying)
- Set subject-specific preferences (e.g., you might prefer longer sessions for math and shorter for readings)
Spaced Repetition Learning
Our system implements spaced repetition techniques, which are scientifically proven to improve knowledge retention.
What is Spaced Repetition?
Spaced repetition is a learning technique that involves reviewing material at increasing intervals. This method takes advantage of the psychological spacing effect, which demonstrates that information is more effectively memorized when studied over longer periods with specific intervals between review sessions.
How Spaced Repetition Works
When you study a subject:
- The system schedules a brief review session 1 day later
- If you mark that review as successful, the next review is scheduled 3 days later
- Subsequent reviews are scheduled at increasing intervals (7 days, 14 days, etc.)
- If you mark a review as difficult, the interval is shortened to reinforce that material
Setting Up Spaced Repetition
- After studying a topic, go to Dashboard → Courses → [Course Name] → Topics
- Click "Add Topic" and enter what you studied
- The system will automatically schedule review sessions
- Complete reviews when they appear in your calendar and rate your understanding
Strategic Break Planning
Effective breaks between study sessions are crucial for maintaining productivity and mental health.
Automatic Break Scheduling
Our system automatically schedules breaks based on:
- Pomodoro technique: Short breaks after each focus session and longer breaks after a set of sessions
- Session intensity: More challenging subjects may require longer breaks
- Time of day: Longer breaks during typical meal times
- Overall workload: Ensuring you don't have too many consecutive hours of study
Customizing Breaks
To adjust your break preferences:
- Go to Dashboard → Settings → Breaks
- Set your preferred short break duration (5-15 minutes)
- Set your preferred long break duration (15-30 minutes)
- Specify how many focus sessions to complete before a long break
Important Note
While our system creates an optimized break schedule, listen to your body and mind. If you need an extra break or a longer rest period, adjust your schedule accordingly.
Habit Integration and Tracking
You can integrate regular habits into your optimized schedule to maintain a balanced lifestyle.
Setting Up Habits
- Go to Dashboard → Habits
- Click "Add Habit" and specify:
- Habit name (e.g., "Exercise", "Meditation")
- Frequency (daily, specific days, etc.)
- Duration
- Preferred time
- Enable "Schedule Automatically" if you want the system to find optimal times
- Click "Save" to add the habit to your schedule
Tracking Progress
The habit tracking feature helps you maintain consistency:
- When you complete a habit, mark it as done in your dashboard
- View your habit streaks and completion rates in the "Habits" section
- Receive gentle reminders when habits are scheduled
- Adjust habit scheduling if your completion rate is low
Pro Tip: Start Small
When building new habits, start with just 1-2 habits and make them small and achievable (e.g., "5 minutes of meditation" rather than "30 minutes"). As these become routine, gradually add more or increase their duration.
